Father Jailed for Boat Accident that Killed his Daughter

In the state of Illinois, criminal charges have been filed against the father who was operating a boat that killed his teenage daughter this summer.

News sources say that 39 year old Eric Hazelwonder has been officially charged with two felony counts of operating a watercraft while under the influence of drugs and alcohol. The major boating accident took place on July 3rd while Hazelwonder was on Lake Lou Yeager.

At the time of the accident, Hazelwonder's 15-year-old daughter, Haley Faye Hazelwonder, was in the lake wearing a life jacket when her father started the vessel.  The boat lurched forward unexpectedly and struck Hayley with its propellers.

Haley was rushed to St. Francis Hospital and pronounced dead a short time after her arrival.

At this time, her father is being held in jail in lieu of a $100,000 bond.
