Woman in Critical Condition after Auto Accident

In Danbury, an elderly woman was left in critical but stable condition after a car accident involving two vehicles.  The 81-year-old woman is currently being treated at Danbury Hospital.

Police reported that Joan Krugel was riding in her husband Robert's Subaru when their car was struck by another vehicle at the intersection of Sugar Hollow and Miry Brook roads.  The crash resulted in Joan needing to be extricated from the vehicle by emergency responders.

She was then transported to Danbury Hospital where, as of Saturday morning, her condition was listed as critical but stable.  A police spokesperson stated that Robert Kugel, 80, and the driver of the other vehicle, Kavitha Hegde, 37, were treated at the hospital and released.

The police reported that Hedge was traveling eastbound on Miry Brook Road when her car was hit by Kugel's car, which was traveling southbound on sugar Hollow Road.  There is no indication of fault or charges as this time.
