Metrolink Train Strikes and Kills Pedestrian

In Orange County, hours after a freight train in Oceanside hit a pedestrian and halted commuter train traffic, another train line was suspended on Wednesday.  According to news reports, a Metrolink train crashed into a person in Covina, resulting in that person's death.

Metrolink spokesperson, Angie Starr, told reporters that the train had been traveling from San Bernardino and was supposed to arrive at Los Angeles' Union Station at 11:10 AM.  Starr said that a "trespasser" was hit by the train and died at the scene of the pedestrian accident.  She also told news sources that none of the train's 145 passengers were injured during the collision.

The train was halted on the tracks for an hour and blocked an intersection between Glendora and Glenn Avenues.  Emergency response crews from L.A. County arrived at the scene while buses were used to transport the train's passengers.
