Wrongful Death Suit Filed Against Truck Company for Accident that Killed Sherriff

A truck accident that left a Marion County Sheriff's Deputy dead has resulted in a wrongful death lawsuit.

Deputy Dale C. Sherrill, a 10-year law enforcement veteran, was responding to a domestic disturbance call, sirens blaring, when his police cruiser was broadsided by a semi truck.

The lawsuit claims the truck driver, Perry Jay McClure, failed to obey traffic laws, failed to yield the right-of-way to a police officer, and failed to operate the truck in a safe and cautious manner.

Sherrill's wife, Sandra Annette Sherrill, is now suing the trucking company, Star Fleet Inc. At this time, no action has been taken against McClure.

On behalf of her husband, Sandra Sherrill is seeking damages for disfigurement, conscious physical and emotional pain, torment, mental anguish, emotional distress, and medical, funeral, and burial expenses.

Sandra Sherrill is also seeking damages for loss of care, maintenance, support, services, advice, counsel, companionship, and consortium, as well as for loss of monetary contributions, inheritance, and attorney fees.  She is also seeking damages for emotional distress and mental anguish.
