Dog Bite Victim Files Medical Malpractice Lawsuit Against Ohio Hospital

A lawsuit has been filed against a hospital in Mason County, Ohio and one of its doctors for allegedly failing to provide proper treatment to a woman who came to the hospital with dog bite injuries to her left hand.

Drema Ashley filed a lawsuit against Pleasant Valley Hospital and Dr. James Toothman, claiming Toothman's improper treatment of a dog bite wound lead to the amputation of one of her fingers.

Ashley claims she went to the hospital's emergency room to seek treatment for the dog bite, and that Toothman, who attended to Ashley, failed to "properly treat" her injuries. The lawsuit does not specify which actions Toothman or the hospital did or did not take.

Ashley is now claiming to be suffering from permanent injury, including disfigurement. She is also claiming to have suffered "emotional distress, annoyance, and inconvenience and the loss of ability to enjoy life, including the loss of earnings and earning capacity."

Ashley is seeking an unspecified amount of damages, including all court costs and attorney fees.
