Ohio RTA Settles Wrongful Death Lawsuit

The Greater Regional Transit Authority (RTA) board has agreed to a $1.7 million settlement in the wrongful death lawsuit of a Cleveland man who was struck and killed by an RTA bus.

According the lawsuit, Miguel Muniz, 66, had the right-of-way when he was struck by a commuter bus in a crosswalk.  He was taken to the hospital but later died from the fatal injuries.

The $1.775 million settlement now awaits approval from the Cuyahoga County Probate Court judge.

In addition to filing the wrongful death lawsuit, the attorneys representing Muniz's family also charged the bus driver with vehicular homicide in criminal court.
