Dog Bite Lawsuit Settles After 2 Years

A dog bite lawsuit stemming from an incident that occurred more than two years ago has finally settled outside of court.

A settlement was reached Thursday in a lawsuit filed by Cheryl Perigan against Lisa Guilliams, who claims Guilliams' dog bit her when she was staying with Guilliams in 2007.

Perigan, who was seeking $50,000 in damages, claimed she suffered pain, disfigurement, and permanent injuries from the bite.  Perigan also claimed that she incurred and will incur medical expenses and lost wages.

Guilliams argued back, saying the damages should be reduced because she warned Perigan of the dog's tendencies, but that Perigan attempted to pet the dog anyway.

The case was settled for an unspecified amount of damages.
