Chicago Cubs Facing Wrongful Death Lawsuit

It has recently been reported that the Chicago Cubs may be getting hit with a wrongful death lawsuit.  A wrongful death lawsuit is a type of legal claim that is filed by family members who have wrongfully lost a loved one due to another person's negligence.  If successful with their wrongful death suit, family members may be allowed to collect monetary compensation for their loss.

According to reports, the family members of Alec Drew plan to move forward with their suit.  Drew died during a storm on Wrigley Field property back in 2007.  The family plans to file their legal paperwork in Cook County Circuit Court.

On Augst 23, 2007, 21 year old Drew was crushed when one wall of the car wash on the Wrigley Field grounds collapsed on top of him.  He had been walking to a nearby McDonalds when the wall fell.  He sustained many serious injuries and later died.

The Chicago Cubs were unaware of Drew's death and that he had been lying beneath the rubble until workers discovered him during clean up of the debris.

At this time, the family is seeking an unspecified amount of damages, but the minimum amount required for filing a lawsuit in the Law Division of the Circuit Court is $50,000.  The Cubs would not comment on the case or the incident.
