Worker Sues For Back Injury

Just posted on the DailyHerald.com - A former employee of the Campton Township Highway District has filed a federal lawsuit for a back injury he claims to have received while on the job.  He also claims that he was unjustly fired due to the back injury.

The petitioner of the lawsuit is seeking damages for lost pay, lost benefits and emotional distress.  The lawsuit was filed this past Monday by Sycamore resident, Anthony Cvek.
Cvek was a highway technician for nearly two years before he sustained his back injury.

Cvek reports that he hurt his back in March of 2007 because he fell out of a maintenance vehicle.  Six weeks after the injury, he began to experience numbness along the left side of his body, so he asked his employer to assign him "lighter tasks".

Cvek was told by his employer that no lighter tasks were available and then he claims he was fired after he requested time off using the Family Leave Act.

The Campton Township declined to comment on the case as it is a pending legal matter.  The amount of the lawsuit has not bee disclosed.
